Healthy Families Program & Healthy Kids

CalOptima Kids Health Plan offers two different health care coverage programs for children up to the age of 19 who reside in Orange County.  Under the California Healthy Families Program, CalOptima Kids provides health care to children of working parents who earn too much to qualify for Medi-Cal and do not have health insurance. Under the Healthy Kids Program, CalOptima Kids now offers health care coverage for children who do not qualify for either Medi-Cal or the Healthy Families Program.

CalOptima Kids members access their health care benefits through one of many health networks.  The CalOptima Kids provider network includes over 1,800 primary care and specialty physicians and more than 30 hospitals and clinics.  Families need to meet certain eligibility criteria to enroll and pay low monthly premiums and co-payments for most health care services. There are no co-payments for preventive health care services.

As part of your health care team, we have staff certified by the State to assist families in completing the Healthy Families Program/Medi-Cal and Healthy Kids Program application.
