Paul Yost

Paul Yost, M.D., practices adult and pediatric anesthesiology through Allied Anesthesia and is affiliated with St. Joseph Hospital and CHOC Children’s. Dr. Yost holds other medical leadership positions, serving as director of cardiothoracic anesthesia at St. Joseph and past president of the Orange County Medical Association. He is also the former chief of staff and former chair of anesthesiology at CHOC Children’s, and a past president of the California Society of Anesthesiologists. Comfortable speaking Spanish, he is volunteer for Access OC, providing free surgery for Orange County’s underserved, and he frequently goes on medical mission trips, most recently to Ecuador and Dominican Republic. Dr. Yost received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stanford University and a medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed two medical residencies: Pediatrics at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and Anesthesiology at University of California, Los Angeles. His other interests include surfing, kite boarding, tennis and local government, having previously been the mayor of the city of Seal Beach. Dr. Yost served on the CalOptima Board from 2001–09, was reappointed in August 2016 and was named Chair in July 2017.
