The National Committee for Quality Assurance rating improved from 2025 and puts the Orange County health plan among highly rated plans in the state
ORANGE, Calif. (September 28, 2026) — CalOptima Health has received 4 stars in the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Medicaid Health Plan Ratings 2026. NCQA rates Medicaid plans nationwide on quality of care, member experience with their care and quality processes, and aggregates these factors into a health plan rating on a scale of 1 to 5 stars.
“As Chair of CalOptima Health, one of my goals is always to strengthen CalOptima Health’s quality performance and work toward a 4-star NCQA rating,” said Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento, Chair of the CalOptima Health Board of Directors and Supervisor of Orange County’s Second District. “This achievement shows continued improvement for our members and reflects the focused work and commitment of our leadership, staff, providers and community partners. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to building on this progress to continue delivering the quality care our members deserve.”
CalOptima Health was one of nine plans in California to achieve a 4-star rating, with only four plans receiving a rating above 4 stars. The rating measures care delivered in 2025 and reflects an improvement from CalOptima Health’s prior 3.5-star rating.
“Our performance improved through a data-driven and member-centric approach,” said Linda Lee, Executive Director of Quality Improvement at CalOptima Health. “Working in collaboration with our contracted providers and health networks, we expanded at-home testing options and launched new technology to obtain the most accurate, complete care data possible.”
