What Is a Monthly Premium?
Premiums are monthly fees a subscriber pays to cover the basic costs of the health care package for themselves and any enrolled dependent(s). The subscriber must pay the health plan premiums directly to CalOptima Health when due. Some members may have premiums covered 100% by subsidies and are not required to make a monthly premium. Refer to the Evidence of Coverage for full information about premiums.
Paying Your Monthly Premium
Keeping your premium payments up to date helps you maintain your health coverage. You can make your premium payment using one of the available payment options below.
Your First Monthly Premium Payment
After you enroll in a CalOptima Health plan, you must make your first premium payment to activate your coverage. This first payment is sometimes called a binder payment.
Your coverage does not become active until your required first premium payment has been successfully processed. Be sure to make your payment by the deadline provided with your enrollment and billing information.
