ORANGE, Calif. (October 30, 2023) — October marks 10 years for CalOptima Health PACE, Orange County’s first Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. At the forefront of serving a growing aging population, CalOptima Health PACE has cared for more than 1,000 older adults who qualify for nursing home level of care but want to remain living at home and can do so by attending a PACE Program. Designed for those covered by Medicare and Medi-Cal, the program delivers high-quality, personalized, and culturally appropriate care to improve seniors’ health and quality of life while living at home.
“The goal of CalOptima Health PACE is to help our older adults remain as independent as possible so they can live in their own homes and community,” said Monica Macias-Garcia, PACE Director. “We + provide a comprehensive approach to care, which includes family support, socialization, and on-site medical care. We strive to provide quality services for our participants through an individualized approach.”
To celebrate the 10-year anniversary, staff planned a “PACE Through the Eras” weeklong celebration. Participants and staff dressed up in their best ’50s, ’60s, ’70s and ’80s attire and participated in daily entertainment, including live music, caricaturists, photo booths and more. The festivities highlighted the success of the program, which has been recognized frequently for quality and participant satisfaction.
“Before coming here, I did not have support getting medical care. That has all changed. Now I have good doctors and great staff to help me get the services I need and want,” said Lap Nguyen, a PACE participant for five years. “I enjoy the activities, like the Vietnamese music and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. Since enrolling, I feel my health and overall well-being have improved, along with my quality of life.”
